No work

The whole process of process observation at rcl is divided into 5 departments; 3 days devoted to each. We started with the last, polishing unit which ended on 26th. The next one is body preparation. We didn't work on friday as the person incharge was on leave, and I went home early. 2 days at home were like 2 hours.

 Anyways I had to be back by monday morning, otherwise I would be marked absent. So I started at 5 30 and reached by 9 30 only to find out that we didn't have any work that day, same goes with the day after as the employees of that department are quite busy.

I had the whole day before me and was at complete loss of what to do. As every student knows, whiling away the time is quite easy, we did nothing productive.

RIT

I am gonna brief the rest of the week. The second day we went to the polishing unit and learnt what we already heard the previous day. We came back by afternoon. On Wednesday we went to the regency institute of technology. There we had an interaction with the chairman Dr. G. N. Naidu, president and the dean of the college. After that we were taken around the campus, labs and workshops etc…

Same goes with Thursday, we spent some more time in the polishing plant. Friday we didn’t have any work. So making a split decision, I went home. It took me just 5 hrs to reach home. Journey (12 30 to 5 30) was horrible. But in the end its okay ‘cos I got to spend 2 days at home.

I watched Chennai win (which I didn’t like much) and ate a lot. 

First day at rcl

Forget all the things I have said abt yanam, 'cos at the end of the day all we felt was the need to run away from this place. We had to wait from 7 30 to 8 15 for the prtc bus to take us to the bus station. 10 min walk from there took us to the company. After 2 hr wait at the training hall, at 11 we were taken around the industry and briefed about the production process. The reason I made the first statement of the post is that, although this whole thing took just an hour, we were sweating profusely, n the heat was unbearable. We wanted to go the accom and have some rest, but as things always are not within our hands, we had a presentation by the president of the company later in the afternoon. So after having lunch (I am not going to forget this particular experience) we were in that training hall till 4 00. The president spoke a few words about the industry and engineering in general and an employee of rcl showed us a video of the prodn process which we had witnessed earlier. 

Finally at 5 we made our way back to the accom. After reaching I literally fell on my bed. The house has a very good view of godavari river. The evening passed without much of an event.

The downsides of being in yanam are the food and transportation, the first one being major. Food is horrible in some places. Coming to the weather, you have to have a hand kerchief and a packet of tissues. Bath atleast twice a day.

However, people here are very hospitable. Personally I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Destination Y

I started late (it happens with most girls), at 2:30. My parents and my cousin dropped me at the bus station. I had 2 hr bus journey before I reached destination x. It was very hot and I felt as if I was near some hot body. At 4:30 I reached x and a friend of my parents’ picked me up and took me to y.

We took the shortest route, one with much less traffic (‘cos of bad roads); so it didn’t really matter as it took us 2 hr from there. I enjoyed this particular ride ‘cos there isn’t much of sun (the ac took care of coolness), it was practically evening by that time. Most importantly we travelled through villages full of greenery; coconut and banana plantations, paddy fields with occasional brick kilns in between.

I was looking out of the window the whole time. I was overwhelmed. The life in these places is in contrast with the city life we are getting used to. To be frank I don’t know much about life in villages but I do feel, staying there would be more peaceful n one would be happier. It does have its downsides. As my mom says ‘the grass is always greener on the other side’; she f eels the lack of educational and medical facilities doesn’t make it any better. We are fastly adopting the western culture and getting used to city life. But are we truly happy and satisfied? Do you think all the modern amenities are making life easier for us? Aren’t we getting stressed up n spoiling our health (medical facilities come into pic then)? The life expectancy rate isn’t increasing at the expected rate; India’s life expectancy is still around 64. As it is apparent, villages aren’t developing since everyone wants to get out but not to stay there. No one wants to teach there or work there. The cancellation of rural service from the medical curriculum is enough to say this.

Okay, enough with all this talk; what I mean is that can we lead a life with the advancement of cities and peace of villages?

The accommodation provided at the film institute is good. Ac is not required as Godavari is flowing on the other side of the road. It is like a farm house; with coconut trees all around. On the whole it is very comfortable.

To yanam

The one week break before ps1 has come to an end. I am leaving for yanam tomorrow.

To be frank I haven’t done anything productive in the last few days. Except eating, watching television and mostly sleeping. I was too lazy that I couldn’t even write this post.

Coming to my performance in compres, I did well; I am satisfied. As expected I won’t be getting an a in ams. I am counting on coc, tp1, es2 and spom. I am not very happy with trw. I hope I get a b in mt2. This is the summary of sem4 compres.

I don’t know anything about regency ceramics except that it makes tiles. So I look forward to my stay at yanam. I hope it would be worth remembering.

ME C212

Finally, the most awaited day is here. I was dreading this day ‘cos I had to cover entire transport phenomena 1 in just half day. We had tp 1 today and coc yesterday. Somehow I managed to go through them without losing my mind. And here I am with three days before me before spom. I got my mt2 compre marks this evening, which didn’t do anything to lift up my mind. I managed a decent score in the exam but I am worried that it may not be enough, anyways let’s just wait and see what happens.

I am not sure which one is better, having less than required time to prepare for an exam or more. Because till yesterday I was wailing that I don’t have enough time to prepare for coc n tp and now when I have more, I am at complete loss as to what to do. I mean I would waste most of it.

So, what’s the verdict? I vote for less time with fairness, everyone should have the same rather than just a few disciplines.

The title goes as the course code ‘cos I like the sound of it.
