A lazy Saturday afternoon

I had my ams exam in the morning. Of course that is the only thing I did today apart from having breakfast and lunch. Any ways I have a series of exams lined in the next week but it hurts to open a text book. So, I am writing this.

I am very happy that ams test 2 is finally over. I gave the exam without much preparation, which definitely rules out the possibility of an a grade. So if I work like an ass in this course topping the remaining 2 tests I may end up with b. Anyways, its one of my least favorite courses this sem, I did gladly exchange for 2 other courses. Sadly I can’t do it ‘cos what is a chemistry major without studying quantum chemistry, so I got to study it this sem, n the sem after that.

I do have completely diverse opinions about the same thing. Like choosing mechanical engineering and not wanting to study fluid mechanics. Transport phenomena is one hell of a course. Finally electrical sciences 2, I just drift in and out of sleep in that class.

I had to specially mention measurement techniques 2. We just completed the non EEE cycle. I am definitely not looking forward to EEE. Non EEE was fun, according to the input from friends I am sure EEE would be just the opposite.

Enough of chattering. I had a dream last week, in which a person whom I fairly know committed suicide. I am actually a little scared when it comes to these issues. But I sometimes wonder how can one be so courageous and stupid at the same time to end their lives. Don’t they think of the consequences, what it would do to those who care about them.  I had some experience with an acquaintance committing suicide for a reason which I perceive to be not strong enough or even silly. I feel its rebelliousness and superiority which drives one to these extremes. We are not the centre of the universe afterall.

p.s.: come what may please don’t do anything stupid.

Back to business

The 3 day extravaganza of pearl has ended. The campus is back to its monotonous schedule with a test on every second day. We have es2 tomorrow at 5pm and spom the next day at 9am. I don’t think a night out would help me this time.

We had dark tranquility and strings performing. On 12th we had a classical night followed by glitterati. The classical night was a wonderful experience with naveen iyer, anil srinivasan, sikhil gurucharan and purusothaman performing. I was captivated, though most of the songs were in tamil, they performed two songs written by annamacharya.

I personally didn’t participate in any of the events, but they were good. I should mention about the food stalls, especially domino’s

Non verbal communication

“Nobility and dignity; self-abasement and servility, insolence and vulgarity, are reflected in the face and in the attitudes of the body whether still or in motion”.

It is generally accepted that non verbal cues have more impact than verbal cues. I agree. But verbal cues can be concealed easily when compared to nonverbal counterparts. Does that mean non verbal cues are more genuine?

Looks can be deceiving. Generally people say ‘first impression is the best impression’. In general first impressions are not the right impressions I feel. At least in most of the cases. My first assessment of adelpha has been completely opposite to her personality; she too says the same thing with me. Anyways my point is can we judge a person by just his outward behavior?

Acting indifferent is easy don’t u think? I thought so earlier but now I came to the conclusion that it is not as easy as it appears. The more we become involved and captivated by others the more difficult it becomes. I had a discussion with one of my friends about whether it is necessary to express our feelings, she like me is of the opinion that its not required.

But not everyone is of the same opinion. I had some bitter experiences due to my inability to express things properly both verbally and nonverbally. So I guess its important to understand the situation and decide upon whether to express our emotions or to act indifferent.
