TTGBOT

Finally, I could motivate my lazy ass to stop procrastinating. It has been exactly 3 months and 9 days that I thought to write something and it is today that, it is taking shape.

PS2 is many ways similar to PS1 and in other ways entirely different. Of course, there is responsibility associated now, its also fun. When we roamed around places during ps1, I hardly find time to go anywhere now.

DP is an interesting place to be in. Using the word interesting so as not to take sides. People are encouraged to form their own opinions. Work is hectic, but I can’t complain as I took it for the huge workload (weird thinking, I know). Colleagues are cool (at least my floor) though it doesn’t look like other interns share my interests in wild life and nature. It’s a pity, really!!

Coming to other things, I think I have reached the stage where I have reduced the constant comparison of Bangalore with Hyderabad. Call me biased, but I would support Hyderabad; though I must admit the malls and food in Bangalore are much better.

3 months after I joined DP, I have signed the confidentiality document. If I consider myself a procrastinator, DP might top the list.

The zoo experience

It has been 6 years and 5 months since I have come to live in Hyderabad and it was yesterday that I could finally visit the zoo park or more officially the Jawaharlal Nehru Zoological Gardens. Of course, it isn’t that first time I am visiting this particular zoo. If I remember correctly, it was around my 3rd standard or so, I had been to that place when I visited Hyderabad.

I don’t know why people insist that zoo is for children or why someone visits zoo as a kid only. Ask my opinion and I would say it is for adults as much as it is for kids. Agreed, kids do get excited about seeing animals about which they have read in books or have pictures. But as an adult, one can differentiate better and recognize things well. I am stating this strictly based on personal experience. I am no psychiatrist or psychologist to dwell into the human mind.

Hardly do I remember anything from my previous expedition to this famous place except that it’s very big. But now, I have loads to say and that alone forms the crux of this post. Let me recall, what I have seen yesterday.  Jaguar, leopard, white and yellow tigers, lion, giraffe, peafowls, vultures, chimpanzee, crocodiles, turtles, hyena, jackals, grey wolves, ostrich, emus, kite, elephants, antelopes, deer, parakeets, pheasants and many more. I have even been to the nocturnal place housing different types of owls, porcupine, fruit bats and some varieties of cats. Of course, like a good girl that I am, I avoided the reptile house.

The most memorable ones are the jaguar peacefully sleeping, the white Bengal tiger relaxing and the ostrich posing like a ballerina, fully flexible and complete with a tutu. More so the golden pheasant with amazing colors over its body and its lengthy tail. Not to forget the graceful white peafowl looking adorable. I do remember wondering if rhinoceros was the inspiration of the modern armor and if the golden pheasants inspire current fashion designs.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience if you ignore the mild headache and the irritation that most animals were sleeping. Who knows, I might just go back to look at the bear which I have missed.

Turning 21

I always thought I would feel different on my twenty second birthday; I mean I have completely 21 years of my life and now an adult in every way. But alas, it was like every other one (a few differences, nothing to do with age though).

I was vella like every other bday I celebrated during BITS, but I did treat myself with delicious pizza and mushrooms. The main difference is that I got to spend the day away from family; this is the first (and definitely not the last) one where I was not with my family, and was at BITS. The campus was all lovely like ever, with the wild flowers all around and the constant wind.

I felt like an adult because I got to choose how I spend my day. Normally my family decides my schedule, but this time I had a blast; slept till noon, and went out for the evening. As always I was depressed though, because I am growing up and I don’t want to. I may sound like a petulant child, but most people would agree with me on this.

Why are birthdays so special? Hardly anyone can remember being born to celebrate that day. Honestly, it doesn’t really matter if one celebrates their birthday on july 29th or august 9th. Anyways, I got this brilliant idea while having pizza on my most important day of the year. Why not celebrate every day as a birthday?

I do have a valid reason for asking this question. First, birthdays are only special because we feel they are important and cherish. We enjoy, celebrate and make sure everything is perfect on that day. Why not do it every day. I mean, wake up with the same euphoria, be as happy as you are on your birthday and enjoy.

I think I will try to follow my own advice.

The pen ultimate semester

New semester, new room, new projects but the old me. It shouldn’t be a difficult thing to come up with a general post, but alas, here I am, almost 7 months later writing this.

Anyways, going into trivial details, the last registration turned out to be the worst one. I had to come running all the way from yosufguda, only to stand in line for a few hours; not to mention, hungry, parched and my whole body aching (I had fever the before day, so the ramifications). After the traditional orientation for which I was 2 hr late (mind you, it was a 3 hr session) the semester had officially started.

So, here I am in the library trying to understand why in the hell did I take up optioneering as my thesis subject. Since, I can’t change the past, I start with a couple of papers which have all the irrelevant information. And now it’s up to me to come up with the model, understand and present it to my instructor. Seeing I have only 3 days, and my not-going-well toefl preparation, it’s going to be interesting to say the least.

All the while feeling sad that this is going to be last sem on campus..

New year resolutions

This year is going to be hectic; with my last semester on campus, upcoming practice school, college applications, preparation for gre, toefel, gate etc. etc.. But as far as my resolution goes I am thinking about my personality. I want to be more independent, confident, mature and less arrogant.

As far as my new year resolutions go, I have made them only a few times and have failed to remember them by 5th January. So, I might have to take some resolute steps this time; like making a note on the wall behind my study table, or make a sticky note on my desktop. Either way, I should at least try to uphold them throughout this year.

2012!

It doesn’t seem to be the end of year for me. May be because I am cut out from outside world for a while or because it is actually middle of an academic year, I don’t get the feeling of an year end. It has always been a mystery to me as to why we celebrate the new year on January 1st. Anyways since it is something which is not in my hands, we should probably move on to other topics.

When I come of think of 2012 I would use the word interesting.  Everything that happened this year was interesting and eventful, including that 2 month summer project on campus. Admittedly I didn’t do much for the project, it was a different experience, being in the campus alone; I guess I was only B.E. student then on campus.

I didn’t get much of an output out of my chem. lop but it was educating. While we are on the subject of projects; my last sem projects haven’t gone well; worse than chem. lop. Grades were fine during both sems. In fact I was surprised. Even in 4-1; I thought I was a goner, but surprisingly I did fine.

Overall it was a memorable year; I can go on to say one of the best of all those that I remember. Not all good things though, I have never been more disappointed when I couldn’t make through that science academy summer intern.

I just hope next year would be as interesting if not more.

On 12/12/12 at 12

This is the schedule for paper distribution for lean manufacturing. With all the compres' going on and paper distribution on top of it there is hardly any time left to relax. I am looking forward to 5pm on 13th december.

As of now my performance in cdcs is quite good. We have got only numerical analysis remaining; which is like a dragon lurking behind a corner in an elaborate maze; I have to be extremely careful with every number, decimal...

Hopefully this last exam won't be the worst.
